Common Terms The
following terms are commonly used in connection with file compression. If you
are not familiar with their meaning, please click on the links below to see a
brief explanation:
Starting PowerZip To
start PowerZip:
Unzipping To extract
or "unzip" an archive, click on the Unzip button on PowerZip's toolbar. The
Extraction Wizard will start. You will then be able to select which archive you
would like to unzip, where you would like to place the extracted files and
choose other options. You can also unzip files directly in Windows
Explorer / My Computer. Simply right-click on the archive you would like to
extract and choose one of the Unzip items from the menu.
Zipping To compress or
"zip" file in PowerZip, click on the Zip button on PowerZip's toolbar. This will
start PowerZip Compression Wizard which will guide you through steps involved in
compressing files.
You can also zip files directly in Windows
Explorer / My Computer. Simply select and right-click on the files or folders you would
like to compress and choose one of the Zip items from the menu.
Opening Archives Opening an archive
allows you to:
- Views it contents
- Select individual files or folders to extract
- View or edit the files in the archive
- Delete files from the archive
To open an archive, click on the Open button on
PowerZip's toolbar or double-click on an archive in Windows Explorer / My
Computer.
